Thanks, Mang!

We are done with 'Just A Tool', the Depeche Mode tribute track. But Robin veto-ed my cheesy synth solo. Fucker hurt my feelings...

Thanks!!!

Benita

Inch

Mark

Melissa

This all just proves that it's okay if you are talentless, it's more important to have talented friends.

Thanks for helping out on vocals!

"Hey, you are blogging..."

"Yes, I am."

Recording Benita and her Echo-Oh-Oh-Oh girls (made up of Inch, Melissa and Evelyn - who couldn't make it today) for the title track of our next album 'Simply As Designed'.

She was wearing the headphones with tissues underneath them. Yes.

I will find the photo and put it here.

Remixes

Hmm, it's strange but life as a bum seems to be way busier than one of a corporate slave. There's no time or any thoughts to blog about. I reckon when you are working. You tend to slack off all the time.

That could be me. Heh.

Just completed the Stellarium remix with a final mixdown and mastered it at The Love Studios aka Woei Yuan's studyroom. Sounds pretty fun. Azman liked the I / D remix we did so he asked if we could do one for Stellarium.

So now he owes me one! Yeah, a remix.

So far, it's pretty fun doing all these stuff. It's like playing with Lego. Using the bricks and forming a whole new structure. With additional bricks from some other sets at times.

Nice. Still have the Analog Girl and Plainsunset ones to go. The album is still in stagnation for recording. Hopefully, that's all done.

Maybe, I'd just pack it up after both projects end.

Rudra - Hymns from the Blazing Chariot trailer

Jacen directed it and I think it's still in post-production.

Wednesday, September 30, 2009

Scarlett Johansson & Pete Yorn - Realtor (live)

The tune is taken off their duet album Break Up. She really sounds pretty decent here. Much better than the warbling on the Tom Waits tribute album last year. And that awkward shuffling she calls dancing. That's cute. Scarlett, if you were not married, we should hang.

She looks absolutely divine here in another live performance.

Dirty Projectors - When The World Comes To An End (live)

Wow, holy crap. The vocal harmonies.

There's another video of them (filmed on an iPhone by The Roots's drummer, Questlove no less) rehearsing in the dressing room for this 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon' episode. The bro with the 'fro had Tweeted that this was prolly one of his favourite musical guests on the show ever. Even guitarist The Roots guitarist Kirk Douglas chipped in his 2 cents in the phone video.

Mindblowing.

Kate Bush (feat. David Gilmour) - Running Up That Hill (live)

The hair is very big in this old live video.

Black Dynamite

I'm still waiting for this to come out!!!

Inch Chua - Devotion In Reality

Not many people would know that I held up the reflector in a couple of shots in this stop-motion video. :(

Apparently, Inch is in the list of FHM's Top 100 sexiest women in Singapore. Haha, that's interesting.

Elly Tran Ha

It's been a long while since I've posted anything on this blog. But went over to Noel's blog and saw his post about this Vietnamese model who decided to plunge her neckline to win some blog competition or something.

She's quite the cutie as well. And that is just the nicer geeky girl look. Check out some of the other images.

Yeah, sweetheart, I know your eyes are up there.

Even, Wikipedia has nothing on her yet. But when it comes to such situations, you can always rely on AskMen.com for some answers. This chick will move Maximisers by the truckloads.

Why can't we get someone like this to be our Miss Singapore World?

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

R.E.M. - Spooky (live)

I love this tune. First heard it when Dusty Springfield sang it. Hopefully, I can find another copy of that. Her version was more Rhodes driven which is uber-cool.

Michael Stipe does a very decent job on this.

Friday, August 21, 2009

Jay-Z - Run This Town (feat. Rihanna & Kanye West)

Not feeling it yo!

Rihanna tries so hard to be gangsta by flippin' the bird. Wow, try smoking crack like Amy Winehouse!

Galaxie 500 - Ceremony (live)

In my never-ending quest to embarass myself and my friends musically, I've always sought to find some new music (or stuff I like) to ape. As some of you guys might know, me and some of the boys formed a nonsensical shoegazing band called Galactica a few months.

We wrote and recorded a few tunes on the spot for the fun of it, releasing the (intentionally, we hope people could tell) badly recorded and mixed EP Galactica Lives!.

Barring that there will be time (and money), we will like to carry on with this nonsense and do a follow-up EP. However, being the "consummate" artists we are, I believe we should keep evolving... Ahem, yeah, so instead of doing more early 90's British shoegazing rock, we will mine the late 90's American slow-core movement.

I love Low who I mentioned to Bryan. He digs the mp3s I've sent over. Interestingly, he reminded me of an old 80's (now defunct) American act Galaxie 500 which he said are pretty much the pioneers of the whole slow-core genre. Atmospheric and very sluggish in nature.

He's right.

So I'm revisiting all my Galaxie 500 CDs right now. That's the Bostonian band covering Joy Division's 'Ceremony'. Interesting trivia: They were actually friends with talkshow host Conan O'Brien when they were all undergrads in Harvard. I love Wikipedia.

Pulp - This Is Hardcore (live)

Wooo, nice live version.

Pulp got to release this as the first single off This Is Hardcore cause Radiohead released a highly successful sprawling single also known as 'Paranoid Android' the year before in 1997. This didn't do as well as expected.

Could be the fact that frontman Jarvis Cocker is not really a singer than an observant exhibitionist. Could be the issue that the song draws an allegory between his personal demons and all the porn movies he watched in the hotels the band stayed during their European tour.

I love this tune anyway. Great stuff. Lovely and underrated album too.

She & Him - Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?

Apparently, Zooey Deschanel got together with her '(500) Days Of Summer' co-star Joseph Gordon-Levitt to do a video for her band She & Him. Shot by the movie director Marc Webb, it's sorta like a promo thing for the indie flick.

But it's real good.

Zombieland trailer

Cannot wait to see this!!!

Wednesday, August 05, 2009

U2 - Bad (live)

An old video. One of my favourite U2 tunes.

Check out 'The Unforgettable Fire' here. Amazing playing by The Edge.

Monday, August 03, 2009

Fantastic Mr. Fox

This looks really cute! Based on the Roald Dahl's children novel and is stop-motion! George Clooney, Bill Murray, Meryl Streep, Jason Schwartzman and Willem Dafoe star. And it's directed by Wes Anderson so it should be fun!

The Burning Plain trailer

The Burning Plain is both written and directed by Mexican filmmaker Guillermo Arriaga, who worked with and wrote Alejandro González Iñárritu's trilogy of Amores Perros, 21 Grams, and Babel, as well as the screenplays for The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada and The Night Buffalo. The film first premiered at the Venice Film Festival late last year and has played at other major film festivals ever since then. Magnolia Pictures will be bringing The Burning Plain to very limited theaters starting on September 18th this year.

I've missed 'Babel' which I heard was really good but I've enjoyed watching '21 Grams'. This looks pretty decent too.

Friday, July 31, 2009

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds (feat. Kylie Minogue) - Where The Wild Roses Grow (live)

Coincidentally, this is my favourite song by the 2 artistes whom I don't really listen to very much.

She does this song live too. As a dance number, of course.

BattleStar Galactica Orchestra - Precipice (live)

Damn intense. I wanna do a show like this... Hopefully, will be able to score a gig next year and plan for something like this.

Thursday, July 30, 2009

Blur - Tender (live)

I've always loved this tune. Not too sure when this was shot. Probably quite a few years back.

Great stuff with the full gospel choir.

Empire Of The Sun - Eclipse Broadcast

Interesting...

Freebass

The U.K. indie bassist version of G3, the guitar hero trio. Their MySpace page is here.

According to the official page, the supergroup which is driven by Peter Hook's ego.

Freebass are a Manchester band consisting of three bassists Andy Rourke (formerly of The Smiths), Peter Hook (formerly of Joy Division and New Order) and Gary "Mani" Mounfield (formerly of The Stone Roses and currently in Primal Scream), singer Gary Briggs (formerly of Haven), drums Paul Kehoe, programming / tour management Phil Murphy.

Interesting, ain't it?

Gary Briggs! Max recommended me Haven before and I loved their stuff. It's typical British indie rock but it's pretty good. Check out this video. Didn't know they broke up for good. Pity.

The Prisoner trailer

Remake of the old TV series, starring Ian McKellen and Jim Caviezel. Looks pretty damn good.

Monday, July 27, 2009

Dimlite – Ravemond's Young Problems

This shit is pretty rad... A small-time producer from California. Weird but pretty great.

Artic Monkeys - Crying Lightning

I was never a fan. But I love frontman Alex Turner's side project The Last Shadow Puppets and the whole retro vibe. This new Artic Monkeys seems to reflect some lessons/ ideas which he took from that project. Pretty decent single from the upcoming album Josh Hommes(!)-produced Humbug.

Where The Wild Things Are featurette

Somehow, I'm more excited to catch this than Tim Burton's 'Alice In Wonderland'. Even when they have the Arcade Fire contributing some songs to the soundtrack. *rolls eyes*

Steel Panther - Death To All But Metal

Found another Steel Panther video. These fuckers are hilarious.

They are a real band but semi-paraodying the 80's rock cliche.

Saturday, July 25, 2009

Cover ready!!!

That will be the cover for our next album which is a remix project. Thanks to Teck Lee who designed it.

Yeah, we are calling it The Super Lard Bros OST like a soundtrack to a 80's style console game. The album will be out and free for download on National Day which is in 2 weeks' time.

See you then!

Steel Panther - Community Properity

As recommended by Robin, this band is even more OTT than The Darkness. Gotta love 'em! It's comedy wrapped in 80's rock (which is unintentional comedy to begin with). It's slightly NSFW.

Maxwell - Pretty Wings (live)

He's back and he's still got it!!! The album is pretty decent. Heard it only once though.

Alice In Wonderland teaser trailer

Not very convinced...

Monday, July 20, 2009

Big Star - Thank You Friends

Most people know their song but don't really know the band. They were one of the proto (or pioneer) power pop bands. Really good stuff. Alex Chilton and Chris Bell were like the Lennon-McCartney songwriting team of the 70's American rock scene but without the fame and money.

Their song 'In The Street' was recorded by Cheap Trick as the theme song to 'That 70's Show'. You can watch that here. Much of the original band members have left so Ken Stringfellow and Jon Auer from The Posies augmented the band back in 1993. I love this tune 'September Gurls' and this version is a cover by Susanna Hoff's The Bangles.

I Met The Walrus

In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan snuck into John Lennon's hotel room in Toronto and convinced him to do an interview. 38 years later, Levitan, director Josh Raskin and illustrator James Braithwaite have collaborated to create an animated short film using the original interview recording as the soundtrack. A spellbinding vessel for Lennon's boundless wit and timeless message, I Met the Walrus was nominated for the 2008 Academy Award for Animated Short.

Pretty cute stop motion video.

Skeletons In The Closet

Yeeyong sent this over. I haven't watched it yet. Will catch it later.

Max & Robin - Rule The World

Max and Robin cover my favourite Take That song. I love this tune. It's part of the OST for the movie Stardust which actually showcased Claire Danes pretty nicely. Never had a thing for her unlike Billy. But now, I'm convinced.

I think we are going to get them to cover a Michael Damian or Tommy Page tune next. What should we do eh? I think I might run a poll on what their best covers are... Hmmm.

Thursday, July 09, 2009

Michael Damian - Was It Nothing At All

At Weiyuan's place. After we recorded Max singing Take That's 'Rule The World', we started singing this Michael Damian tune.

Bon Jovi

2 good friends of mine are getting married next year. Well, they already are but this is for their traditional wedding banquet. I don't really think I should reveal their identities yet but they are running a small indie label here. Ahem. That should give it away pretty much.

In any case, they are thinking of doing a small rock music festival as their wedding dinner. And it will be held in an open air area (Fingers crossed). How fuckin' cool is that? If the boys and I were ever invited to perform, I've promised the bride that we will do a Bon Jovi cover.

Now, I really dislike Bon Jovi. I know Noel is a huge fan. But they are a really boring band. Their music sound exactly the same but yeah, some tunes are guilty pleasures. Jon Bon Jovi makes no apologies for being a pretty bad lyricist. I mean, check out the first line of 'It's My Life': "This is a song for the broken-hearted". You can't get more straightforward than that. The fucker states the mission statement of the tune in the first line!

It got me thinking that if we were to perform a Bon Jovi song, which one should we do? Hmmm... These are my choices. What would be yours?

Living On A Prayer

Guitarist Richie Sambora actually uses the Talkbox pretty nicely most of the time. Gotta love him for that. And all his trophy wives. Nice.

I'll Be There For You

You Give Love A Bad Name

Keep The Faith

Probably their best tune ever.

Always

God, the first God-awful line: "This Romeo is bleeding..." Seriously...

And of course:

It's My Life

Bon Jovi tunes are like Jean Claude Van-Damme movies. They are cheesy as shit but everyone has a favourite one. What's yours?

District 9 trailer

Peter Jackson's protege Neill Blomkamp shot a short film a while back: 'Alive In Joberg' which is pretty good. Check it out here. It's pretty good.

He fleshed it out into a full-length feature. Hopefully, it's not those shaky movie cam kinda thing. My eyes can't take that shit.

Funny People trailer

Another one just popped up. Looks really good!

Wednesday, July 08, 2009

Nicholas Chim - Don't Cry (live)

The story behind it is pretty touching. Click on the video to access the original YouTube link to read it.

But the fucker's gotta shave lah. He's looking like a hentai Japanese porn actor.

Transformers: Badly Animated

Fan-made flick, done with the toys. Pretty cute. Some people just have way too much time!

Melodyne

Got this off Matt. This shit is scary! Need to get my grubby hands on a copy of the software.

Twilight Galaxy

A couple of my friends will be performing this Sunday 12 July at Central SOHO Sky Garden at 6pm. Actually, I'm doing a remix exchange with most of the performing acts anyway. Hahaha. So far, only Breakbeat Theory and amberhaze's are done but unmixed. Hopefully, Woei Yuan can get it done by this weekend.

Pam aka The Analog Girl is sending over some stuff this week while I need to firm down some stuff with the Cosmic Armchair which I've never met before. Probably, a good time to introduce myself to them this Sunday.

Jennifer's Body trailer

No, the trailer might be red band but Megan Fox doesn't take off anything if that's what you pervs are hoping to see. Yeah, well, I'm sure the Playboy centrefold will come within the next few years.

Have some hope...

Galactica Lives!

Me and the guys (aka Robin, Woei Yuan, Yeeyong and Bryan) came up with an idea for a joke. We decided to form a band to write and record a short shoegazing EP within a day. We went to a pretty crap studio (we only found out how bad it really was when we were there) to do a live recording.

There was only a fuckin' track for the drums. Typically, there should be a few .wav tracks for the hi-hat, kick drum and cymbals. Well, I cheated; I pre-programmed the kick drum. So the band was reasonably tight. Hey, those can't drum, program the beats. So I played only the cymbals, snare and toms. Heh.

It was fun. Robin did lead vocals on all tunes. They were mainly inspired by our beloved space opera series BattleStar Galactica and Max who served as our muse most of the time for our nonsensical lyrics.

It was really fun. We talked about going back (not to the same crappy studio) to do a sequel to this joke. That'll be probably be the end of the year. If so, I will suggest the next 3 song titles: 'So That Was The Frakkin' Plan? They Never Told Me!', 'I Just Rammed BattleStar Galactica Into The Cylon Basestar. Woot!' and 'We Are The Final Five'. We probably should cover Bob Dylan's 'All Along The Watchtower' as well since it was the trigger tune for all the Final Five Cylons. Hmmm..

Download Galactica Lives! here.

The track listing is:

1. Saul's Tighs
2. Gaius Is Crying... Again
3. I Wanna Be A Cylon

RazorTV: Do Nice Girls Finish Last?

I just found out that Noel appeared on last Friday's RazorTV episode where they discussed if nice girls finish last. Charmaine asked me if I were interested to go on, I have no idea what gave her and Sujin the idea that I was even knowledgeable about the subject.

But if I knew Noel was going, I probably would have gone. Then again, he's a true slut on such topics anyway. Though if I had gone, I would have missed KoFlow's great set at Zirca last Friday.

The rest of the episode can be found here.

Jay-Z - Death Of AutoTune (D.O.A.)

And no, despite what Kanye West says, Jay-Z is not the new Frank Sinatra (which I never got anyway). And the track is produced by Kanye West. Pretty good tune.

8-bit Lard Bros

We've renamed the album. Read something about that here.

The Super Lard Bros OST is conceptualised as a soundtrack to an imaginary console game. The game is a rehash of games in the 80’s Nintendo side-scrolling classics such as Super Mario Brothers and Double Dragon.

Thanks to Teck Lee who is helping us with the cover. Thanks man! That is a test image for now.

Can't wait to see the rest of the stuff.

The Setting Sun

Looks like Ricks and April are moving into the whole record label thing a bit as well. They are putting out an album by Japanese sound artist (or soundscapist, whatever) Fjordne. It should be out on 1 August. His MySpace page is here. And Kitchen's website is here.

They have an aspidistrafly blog here. Contains quite a fair bit of photos off their Japan tour. Makes me kinda upset that I'm not there. Ahem. Hmmm...

They have Haruka Nakamura on their label. I'm kicking myself at times for not buying the album which he collaborated with Akira Kosemura on. And it's much cheaper than Kosemura's solo. Yeah, the cheapo Singaporean in me still reigns...

Coco Before Chanel trailer

Not really a fan of Audrey Tatou but this seems slightly interesting.

Bruce Springsteen with Tom Morello - The Ghost Of Tom Joad (live)

Got it off Brian. Weird but nice. Rage Against The Machine covered this before but to hear Tom Morello performing it with the Boss himself and pulling out his usual bag of tricks. It's pretty interesting.

Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs trailer

Stars the voices of Bill Hader, Anna Faris and Mr. T! Looks pretty good. This other trailer is better.

Plainsunset + JBoss - Zoe Tay (live)

Shot on Channel 5's 'Live And Loaded' programme a few months back. I find it hilarious that the song went over the heads of all the kids who were there. This tune was pretty popular 10 years ago in the indie music scene.

There is no sense of music history in Singapore. But that's as with all kids to begin with.

Electrico - What Do You See?

This is the video for the National Day Parade song which is written by Electrico. Interesting how the Ministry of Defence has decided to go for an English rock band this year.

Lost In Translation

Silverchair - The Greatest View (live)

I'm not a fan of the Aussie trio but this breadth of this tune is amazing. And to think, they wrote it at the age of 23 back in 2002. Though I must admit some of the lyrics are pretty dodgy...

Bollywood He-Man and The Masters Of The Universe

Get ready to dig your eyes out. Michael Bay couldn't do any worse.

Couples Retreat trailer

Jason Bateman and Vince Vaughn! Looks pretty good!

Moderat - Rusty Nails

I heard they are coming to perform for a Heineken Green Room event at the end of the month.

Novak

Photobucket

If you are new to the charms of my friend Max, you must know that he loves Coldplay, Thirteen Senses, Keane, a true-blue Oasis dan and not to forget, Take That fan as well. He is the only last surviving Charlatans fan that I know personally. Who the fuck listens to the Charlantans anymore? Well, Max does.

We did an EP for him called The Novak EP which was a birthday gift for a lady. In case you are not one of the 21 peeps who have already downloaded it, get it here.

Do not worry, the above photo is not part of the package.

The Goods trailer

Looks pretty funny.

You know what, Max...

With the extremely great help of Firdaus whose photo blog you can check out here, we did a photoshoot to submit an official photo for our upcoming show at the Esplanade Concourse in August.

Max followed us and became the default choreographer for us. So, instead of showing us in action, here are some shots of him doing the poses to demonstrate what we should be doing in the shot.

Max 1

Max: "Dude, you know what? Let's try to channel your inner Westlife and Take That. Think Gary Barlow man!" I'm not joking; he said that.

And look carefully, you can see the $2 purple bill in his left breast pocket.

Max 3

Max: "Follow me, guys. Do the Blue Steel like Ben Stiller in Zoolander!"

Max 2

Max: "Ehhhh, you know what, guys?"

Us: "What?"

Max: "You should do a pensive shot where you look away, deep in thought. Chicks dig that kinda stuff..."

This is a candid shot. Well, Max feels very right at home. Hmmm...

And this is my personal favourite. The weather was insane on Sunday noon. Firdaus was a trooper and followed us around. Well, all of us were drenched to our undies since we were wearing suits and all. And our make-up (yes, we were dolled up. Weiyuan was gunning for the Robert Pattinson vampire look in Twilight) were running down our faces.

Even though Max was not in most of the shots, he was drenched to the bone in perspiration. His white shirt was particularly thin and his extremely brown nipple was peeping through the wet shirt.

So this was us doing a tribute to his right brown nipple and him striking a pose for a GQ cover.

Thanks, Max, Firdaus and Fiona (Yeeyong's missus who did the make-up). It was fun.

John Mayer Has A TV Show

Robin has been telling me about this for quite a while. Just saw a friend putting up the links on Facebook. Pretty funny stuff.

Well, the guy's a superb blues guitarist and of course, he's definitely right about Jennifer Love Hewitt's body being a wonderland... Bastard.

Linda Bjalla + Life Without Dreams - A Calm Day

The Invention Of Lying

In an alternate reality, lying -- even the concept of a lie -- does not even exist. Everyone -- from politicians to advertisers to the man and woman on the street -- speaks the truth and nothing but the truth with no thought of the consequences. But when a down-on-his-luck loser named Mark suddenly develops the ability to lie, he finds that dishonesty has its rewards. In a world where every word is assumed to be the absolute truth, Mark easily lies his way to fame and fortune. But lies have a way of spreading, and Mark begins to realize that things are getting a little out of control when some of his tallest tales are being taken as, well, gospel. With the entire world now hanging on his every word, there is only one thing Mark has not been able to lie his way into: the heart of the woman he loves.

It stars Ricky Gervais. Enuff said.

Daybreakers trailer

There are too many vampire-related shows out there. But this one looks pretty decent.

Wilco - You Never Know (live)

I love Wilco. This is damn OTT! The last tour saw them touring as a 6-piece band. Now, they are up to a 8-piece unit?

Holy crap!

Can someone bring them into Singapore? The KittyWus? Fuck Kings Of Convenience lah!

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

Phoenix - 1901 (live)

I'm not a fan but if you are, this might do it for you.

Unpopular-radio

You can download or stream last night's show here.

Yup. Thanks to those who listened live.

Lily Allen - Fuck You

Her sophomore album It's Not Me, It's You is alright (ahem) at best. Some friends really love it. But you can't deny all the videos which have been released are fantastic. Apparently, the song bashes George W. Bush and his homophobia (besides his glaring lack of foreign diplomacy).

Yeah, the song's kinda cute but Pet Shop Boys did it better with "I'm With Stupid" (sans vulgarity as well).

Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen clip

Some of you guys might have already caught the premiere of the show. Well, check out The Smiths' Meat Is Murder poster in the background. Yeah!

Photoshoot

Hahaha, I love my boys. We are trying to arrange a photoshoot for the new Lard Brothers line-up. Which is based on the current theme is old school 3-D specs. We have difficulties hunting them down. So Yeeyong was tasked to make them. As with the job brief by Weiyuan who said, "I want it to look like we are appearing on the cover of GQ!"

-_-"

Yeeyong is a sport. He made the specs and sent us some test shots. I'm not too sure if I am even allowed to put these pictures up. But it tickles my fishballs cause the last time I've seen him so formal was at his wedding.

Firdaus will be helping us out with the photoshoot. Was really sweet of him to take us up on bribes of nasi padang. Thanks, dude!

Tim Burton's "Alice In Wonderland"

Yup, that's Johnny Depp in the role of the Mad Hatter. Check out some of the concept art for the upcoming Tim Burton movie here. Helena Bonham Carter looks in her own element which is "weird". Anne Hathaway still looks so good that I can eat her. Hurhurhur.

Unpopular Music radio

I'll be joining Charanpal aka DJ Tan(g)kap Accent on his weekly Monday night show 'Black Tan(g)kap Black Show' tonight 22 June 2009. I should be playing some music which is under the Aging Youth label.

I've absolutely no idea what to expect. Well, I pitched to him to let me and Weiyuan do a segment to promote the Lard Brothers' remix album which we have renamed The Super Lard Bros OST. Complete with a concept for the album sleeve. We are meeting a friend who is helping us design the cover and a bit of the interior artwork on Wednesday.

In any case, I really need to get that stuff outta the system. We are done with the remixes and it's up to Weiyuan to mix it down. We should be able to put it up for free download on National Day again.

Anyway, Charanpal asked me to join him for his last show ever. He's flying over to Australia to do his Ph.D. in a week's time. The Lard Brothers should be appearing on the internet streaming radio station(?) towards the end of July.

Click here to log onto the website. Click on the 'Listen' button. The show starts at 9:45pm. If you have nothing on, just log on and hear me blabber some nonsense.

Miranda Kerr @ Pirelli 2010 calandar

Yeah, so if you like nekkid chicks, you go check out the rest of the photos here. NSFW, of course.

Zombieland trailer

This looks really good!

Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) has made a habit of running from what scares him. Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) doesn't have fears. If he did, he'd kick their ever-living ass. In a world overrun by zombies, these two are perfectly evolved survivors. But now, they're about to stare down the most terrifying prospect of all: each other.

Google Search Options

Fuckers. It's really no wonder their stock is valued that much and still climbing.

2012 trailer

Which Hollywood director blows up more shit than Michael Bay? There's only one. And he likes blowing up national institutions and landmarks.

Roland Emmerich.

He did 'Independence Day' (alien invasion), 'Godzilla' (mutant Komodo dragon invasion) and 'The Day After Tomorrow' (no invasion but the whole fuckin' earth froze over in days. Cast Emmy Possum in the show. +10 points.). He's taking on the end of days here.

Must be fun to work for him.

"Boss, where shall we blow up this time? Statue of Liberty, check. Great Wall Of China, check. The Golden Bridge, been there, done that. I know! Jesus The Redeemer in Rio de Janiro!!!"

Voila! A new movie done!

Record Club - Sunday Morning (live)

Somedays, when I wake up, I wish I were Beck Hansen.

Beck has enlisted a group of friends to form the ‘Beck & Friends Music Club’ in which they will re-record entire albums in one-day sessions and post a track a week on Beck.com.

The Record Club will be a regular meeting of various musicians to record an entire album in one day. A single album will be chosen to be covered and used as a framework, with nothing rehearsed or arranged ahead of time.

The intention is to upload one track every week from these sessions to Beck.com, as well as through the websites of those involved in the project.

The first album in the series to be re-worked is ‘The Velvet Underground & Nico’.

MGMT, Devendra Banhart, Jamie Lidell and Nigel Godrich have all been enlisted so far to take part in the club.

That's 'Sunday Morning' from Velvet Underground & Nico's debut album.

Street Sweeper Social Club - Paper Planes (live)

Yup, that's a M.I.A. cover.

Street Sweeper Social Club - 100 Little Curses (live)

Mos Def - Quiet Dog (live)

Thirst trailer

A beloved and devoted priest (Song Kang-ho) from a small town volunteers for a medical experiment which fails and turns him into a vampire. Physical and psychological changes lead to his affair with a wife of his childhood friend who is repressed and tired of her mundane life. The one-time priest falls deeper in despair and depravity. As things turns for worse, he struggles to maintain what's left of his humanity.

Thirst is directed by South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook, of Joint Security Area, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Oldboy, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, and I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK previously. The screenplay was co-written by Park Chan-wook and his writing partner Jeong Seo-Gyeong. This first hit theaters in Korea back in April. Focus Features will debut Thirst in limited release starting on July 31st.

I love Park Chan-wook's JSA which was one of the best shows I've ever watched. Absolutely touching show about a country torn apart. Lee Byung-Hun (who was excellent in the show and is unfortunately starring as Storm Shadow in Stephen Sommers' 'G.I. Joe: Rise Of Cobra') and Song Kang-ho were in it. Song kicked major ass in the monster flick 'The Host'. If you haven't watched it before, you owe it to yourself to see it.

Virtuality clip

Battlestar Galactica's showrunner Ron Moore's new show 'Virtuality'. Hopefully, it's half as good as BSG.

Grizzly Bear - Two Weeks (live)

I know Grace is super into them these days. I'm starting to really like their latest album Veckatimest. It's chockful of Beach Boys vocal harmonies, weird ass instrumentations and poly-rhythms. Pretty kick-ass!

The GayClic Collab Against Homophobia

A french video response from http://www.GayClic.com readers to the Stevie Bee Bishop's "Big Fat Gay Collab". Posted on the International Day Against Homophobia, 2009, May 17th. Music is Lily Allen's 'Fuck You'.

With this video, Lily Allen has probably transcended to the next level of being a pop celebrity. She will be instantly recognised by her first name from now onwards and join the ranks of gay icons such as Madonna, Kylie and Britney.

Antony And The Johnsons - Crazy in Love (live)

Yes, it's a Beyoncé cover done the only way Antony Hegarty can do it. Amazing!

Street Sweeper Social Club - Promenade (live)

Tom Morello's new band with Boots Riley of The Coup. The song is pretty decent.

Holy fuck!

How can someone summarize their entire guitar playing career (and reference Jimi Hendrix's guitar showmanship) in one single song?! Chris Cornell can suck it. Which probably he already has.

Placebo - For What It's Worth

The new video for the new single off their new album Battle For The Sun with their new drummer Steve Forrest. Looks like they have a new image too.

Who Lards The Lard Brothers?

A month ago, Max came in to record the song he co-wrote with us 2 years ago. It's our tribute to Pet Shop Boys. So far, we have gotten quite a few people to work on and contribute to it. For a song which is simultaneously a homage and parody, we sure are putting a lotta effort on it.

Nat and Biddy had put their touches on it. Still waiting for Jane and Simon to come in and add their bits.

Here are some pictures of Robin working on the percussion for the tune 'Silence' which Biddy sang lead on.

Pricky heat for the man with sweaty palms.

Endorsing the product as usual with that shit-eating grin. Which stuns Bryan into semi-consciousness.

Playing this box thing which he took from his home. We used to put our coffee and drinks on it before we realised it was actually a musical instrument.

He's whacking some stuff out on this cow fur-skin drum I bought from Bangkok's Chatuchak market 7 years ago. It's cute, not really good sounding. But it has furry skins! Feel the texture...

Priscilla Ahn = The Boob Song (live)

According to her Wikipedia page:

Priscilla Ahn (born Priscilla Natalie Hartranft, 1984) is an American musician, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. She currently resides in Los Angeles, California, although she has lived in Berks County, Pennsylvania, with her family Harry, Kay, and her brother Jacob Hartranft.

Priscilla Ahn was born in Fort Stewart, Georgia to Harry and Kay Hartranft. However, she adopted the maiden name of her mother, who is South Korean. She spent her early childhood years there and in South Korea, after which she lived in Reading, Pennsylvania for ten years. From there, she lived in Bernville, Pennsylvania and attended Tulpehocken Area High School until she left home for Los Angeles after graduation.

Yeah, so she happens to be Pan-Asian and damn cute which are my weaknesses. Sue me.

El Perro Del Mar (with Lykke Li) - Somebody's Baby (live)

I like this online video series 'Split Series' where they take indie acts out on the streets to perform them without any electricity and distorted guitars to hide behind. El Perro Del Mar is pretty good. Been checking out her stuff. This is the video to 'God Knows (You Gotta Give To Get)'.

Transformer: Revenge Of The Fallen clip

2 more weeks!!!

Besides amping up the number of alien robots, it looks like there is a greater concentration on humour and well, profanity. Heh.

500 Days Of Summer trailer

The international trailer. Which signifies my man-date with Billy for the show is approaching soon. Yay!

Check out the soundtrack they use for the trailer. The Cure's 'Boys Don't Cry'. Nice.

How To Fake An Appreciation Of Art

Tsk... art lovers.

What impresses me more is that if you click on the top right green button, you can see notes from the video. How did they do that? Hmm...
